Welcome to our website

It's that crazy time of year when we are all preparing our projects to be shown. It's road trips with friends, family, and instructors. It's long days in show barns. It's dreams of winning big. It's the good stuff... the stuff memories are made of. Cherish every minute of it! Good luck to each and every member of PAS. May the ring be good to you!!

GREENHAND CAMP 2014

PARADISE GREENHANDS

HEART OF A CHAMPION SHOW 2015

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS: (if you need a participant form or a volunteer form please let me know & I will email you a form or you can contact the Extension Office)

New this year at the Wise County Youth Fair will be the Heart of a Champion livestock show for Special Needs youth (and adults) in Wise County. This is an excellent opportunity for 4-H and FFA members and community members to volunteer! Volunteers do not have to have livestock experience as we will need more volunteers than animals! The show will be held on March 6th in the show arena at the Wise County Fair Grounds (the Friday of Youth Fair).

The show will start at 5pm with volunteers checking in at 4pm. Participants will check in at 4:30pm and be matched with two buddies (4-H and/or FFA members). The trio will then head over to the livestock project and groom and prep for show. When it is time for that livestock species to come to the area, participants and buddies will make a lap in the arena in front of a judge while MC's announce names. Once finished participants will all receive a rosette ribbon and have their picture taken with the animal. We will only need a few animals in each species but we will need a lot of youth and adult volunteers!

A meal will be provided after the show and all participants and volunteers will receive a shirt sponsored by the Farm Bureau. Community Service hours will be awarded to those needing hours for other organizations!

Types of volunteers needed:

-          People to be in the stands cheering on participants

-          4-H and FFA buddies to help with participants and livestock

-          Handing out shirts/numbers

-          Keeping aisles clear when livestock and youth are heading to and from the ring

-          Helping serve dinner

-          THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMITLESS!

Youth and Adult Volunteer forms are attached. You must have graduated from High School to fill out an adult form  I am also attaching participant forms in case you know of a family that would like to participate.

Paricipant forms are due to the Extension office by February 2nd and volunteer forms are due back by February 23rd. Late forms will not be accepted.

Livestock species that will be used are: pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits and dogs. Dogs will be required to attend the 4-H Dog Project meeting (and have Janie's recommendation) and all animals will have to be approved through the Extension office or your Ag Teacher.

For questions, comments or concerns please contact the Extension office!
